Just like with anything else in life sometimes you need a break. As much as I enjoy and love what I do as a Personal Wealth Expert, I must take the time to relax and take care of myself.
Whatever I do in life I take seriously because you never know when your testimony, experience or advice will make a difference in someone’s life. Of course, there was a time in my life when I wasn’t sure about which way to turn, how to effectively run my business, or if anyone would buy into my services. Then one day, as I looked around, I realized that most people thought everyone else had their stuff together…but really didn’t. Six years later, I’m still thriving!
The moment I realized that most [at one point] were reluctant and skeptic about their future due to lack of self-awareness; I began to run my company as I saw the best for me and [potential] customers. Rule 1: Stop comparing self and business to others. Following my belief was the best decision I could’ve made and it has made a great difference in the return I’ve received.
From then on, I created a calendar as to topic and when I would blog each day, workshops and conferences attended, and coaching sessions accepted. Rule 2: Create a calendar to stay focus and don’t be afraid to let go.
Just as my business is important, my family is just as important and precious. Rule 3: Never allow other’s impression of you become your reality. Make time for the ones you love. Projects and people will always be there, it’s up to you as to what you’re willing to engage.
This month, my family and I scheduled a road trip to Georgia.
It was a memorable time that will forever be cherished!!! I was so proud of myself because for the first time I unplugged. I didn’t worry about social media, blogging, email, or missed calls. For the first time I relaxed and enjoyed a vacation without any interruptions; it reminded me of my days as a youth, carefree and happy.
When I returned back to the working environment many people said that I looked ‘well rested’. Wow! How did I look before?
Who says that when you become an entrepreneur that you can’t take time for you or family? Yes, you are an involved part of the business, but if you’re worn out the business will be worn down. With that being said, I’ve decided to schedule time off every quarter. In the meantime, I will continue to work hard and create opportunities so that when it’s time for a break I can unplug without any guilt.
