I know, I know, that I have been mission in action for most of summer. As much as I would have loved to post articles for the Fabulous & Money Savvy™ community, I decided to take a well deserved break.
We are as good to others as we are to ourselves. With that being said, I knew that if I didn’t take care of myself and spend time with the family the remaining year would not have been productive. It’s important for each of us to realize when to take a moment. The summer was a perfect time to do so.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t completely walk away. In the meantime, Shabazz Management Group, LLC developed an organization, BROWN GIRLS DO INVE$T, which I will discuss in further detail at a later time.
During the summer, my family traveled to Orlando, Florida and visited Magic Kingdom Disney World. You talk about a fantastic time in Florida. We had so much fun that we extended our trip. There was so much to do as a family at Disney World and around. By the end of the trip, my son expressed that Disney World is truly the happiest place on earth. To have our teenager display so much gratitude was well worth the trip. Since we are about saving, I have to share with you that our family of three enjoyed a 6 day vacation to Florida for less than $1,300. Instead of flying, we opted to rent a car. There’s nothing like a family road trip to bring out the love in each of us. Of course, our trip would not be a traditional Shabazz Family Excursion if we didn’t “sightsee”. That’s code for getting lost! We laugh about it now, but there was nothing funny about it at the time because my husband has the patience of the lifespan of a flying net. We did not book a hotel at Disney World, instead we chose to stay fifteen minutes away and found a special for $51 per night. Trust me, there are many specials on the internet. Hotels want to get rid of the rooms. I would be dismissed if I didn’t mention Groupon. I’m telling you that it can save your budget.
In addition to taking trips and planning various family excursions, I had the pleasure of meeting new people and women who are positive, brilliant and believe in uniting. I cannot wait to share with you the plans our company has in the works.
Did I mention how excited I am to once again write for each of you? In case I didn’t, I’m thrilled. Since returning, I decided to share our online community with others who desire to educate on financial empowerment.
We will have new material, interviews and topics. We also plan to have guest bloggers on Wednesdays. If you, or someone you know are interested in sharing your financial expertise and want to be a part of the movement please visit our page, bloggers for hire to inquire. The page also lists the topics for the Fabulous & Money Savvy™ site.
Let’s finish the year strong!!
