Social media has been consumed with love since Friday. Facebookers and Twitterers have been posting memes, personal pictures, poems and unconditional love for their spouse and lover. Yes, the love is never ending [for now]. In light of the country celebrating St. Valentine’s Day, I could not allow this day to go by without speaking about love.
Although I’m happy to read about the love people have for their spouse and lover, I would love to see that same love daily, not just for a weekend.
Now, let’s discuss the love for self. Not to rain on your parade this loving day, but when was the last time you did something for yourself that would help you accomplish your goals? The beginning of the year was just as this weekend, many were excited and willing to express to everyone their love and tenacity to change a lifestyle. Well, the days have come and gone and I’ve noticed that the love for self to accomplish personal goals are dwindling down.
How much do you love yourself?
Your answer is just as you would hear in any relationship, it’s unconditional. As we all know, “Actions speak louder than words…” So what are you doing? Are you showing yourself how much you deserve the lifestyle you have dreamed of for years by sacrificing each day. Today, don’t just love and sacrifice for others. The best love you can demonstrate is the love for self.
In case there is any doubt, here are important reasons why you deserve the love for self to go after your goals.
You have a purpose. Our higher power does not create anything without purpose. Your mess and test are simply messages and testimonies to share with those who do not have the ability to see beyond the wilderness. You are destined to accomplish a goal like no other. Your situation is different than anyone else so there is no need to compare or believe others when they cannot see your vision.
You are unique. To be unique is to be the only one of its kind. Your thoughts, delivery, kindness, bluntness, tenacity, thoughts and anything else that involves YOU is unique. When someone says that you are different take it as a compliment.
You have the confidence to succeed. Successful individuals are unique in a way that in spite of countless rejections they continue to pursue their goals. Even after one thousand rejections, it only takes one yes to make it happen.
