If counting your pennies everyday wasn’t hard enough try adding for the Holidays.  More people are losing sight of the true meaning of the season by purchasing “bigger & better” items.  I’m a person with a routine. Although, Thanksgiving is this week I still shopped with a budget and list in hand. As always, I frequent the year-round Farmer’s Market for the ultimate discount in fruits and vegetables. When I patronized the grocery store it was another dimension.

Where did everyone come from?

Each aisle was swamped with customers and overflowing carts.  At one point I thought the store was giving away free food.  It was amazing!!!

Shouldn’t we fellowship and show love the entire year? There’s no reason to wait for one day, rush with creating a meal and end with an overwhelming feeling of indulgence.

After looking at the prices of the Turkeys I noticed that this Holiday was “special”.

It’s going to cost a bit more to put a traditional Thanksgiving dinner on the table this year.

The American Farm Bureau Federation reported Thursday that a meal with turkey and all the trimmings will cost about 13 percent more this holiday.

It estimates the average cost to make a meal for 10 people is $49.20. That’s $5.73 more than last year’s average of $43.47, with the biggest cost jump coming from turkey, which costs 22 percent more this year. The classic Thanksgiving meal comes in at about $5 per person.

The rise in the commodities are a tribute to the rising prices, but it shouldn’t stop the consumers from being savvy while shopping.  Although your items are on sale you can still use a coupon.

The bright side is that you will have leftovers and you won’t have to cook for two days.
