It’s the end of the night and you want to speak with your spouse. Once again, it’s that dreadful conversation. Yes, your finances!
What are you to do when your spouse isn’t on the same financial page as you?
The Problem:
It seems like the conversation never ends because you can’t see each other’s point of view. He’s scared of investments and you want to put money away for the kids college fund.
The Solution:
Be mindful to use “I statements” and not attack each other’s comments. Gather material to support your point of view while allowing him comfort. Many couples dread having conversations of disagreement, but it’s healthy when delivered in an appropriate matter.
College funds are very important and should be taken into consideration for your children to be academically successful. Remember that college savings plans are investments and should be discussed amongst each other and an advisor.
A healthy relationship should be able to have multiple conversations on every level.
